Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Principal Project Engineer - ASIC/FPGA to join our Avionics Video and Graphics FPGA/ASIC Team in Cedar Rapids, IA. As a Principal Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and leading to completion various projects related to the development of graphics and video processing FPGAs and ASICs for display applications. This is a remote role that offers the freedom and flexibility to work from anywhere, with a dependable salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Key Responsibilities Work with technical leads to provide ASIC/FPGA estimates and plans for bids and pursuits Establish detailed project plans for execution and serve as Project Engineer for FPGA and ASIC programs to ensure internal and customer commitments are met Track and report cost and schedule status, including Earned Value Management and Risks and Opportunities Management Ensure compliance with Program and Product requirements as reflected in design plans Lead customer-focused activities, including bids, proposals, and technical presentations Collaborate with peer engineers, program management, and customers to manage development projects and ensure technical performance commitments are met within budget and schedule Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role, you will need: A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience Experience managing technical projects, including schedule and Earned Value management, risk management, customer interaction, and briefing leadership Strong communication skills, with the ability to interface with a wide spectrum of individual contributors, program management, and customers Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively document and present your work and status U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required Preferred Qualifications Experience with DO-254 or DO-178 development and verification process Experience with RTL coding in VHDL Familiarity with image generation and processing Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess: Strong technical skills in ASIC/FPGA development and implementation Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Collins Aerospace, we are committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
