About the Position We are seeking a meticulous and computer-savvy Data Entry Clerk who can accurately type information into our database from paper documents. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, be a fast typist, and have a solid understanding of data confidentiality principles. As a key member of our data team, you will report to a Data Manager or another senior data team member, playing a critical role in ensuring our data is accurate, updated, and easily accessible through our digital database. Key Responsibilities Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recorders, or optical scanners, ensuring high accuracy and efficiency. Type in data provided directly from customers, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection guidelines. Create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes, utilizing excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets, particularly MS Office Word and Excel. Verify data by comparing it to source documents, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all entries. Update existing data, retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested, and perform regular backups to ensure data preservation. Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost, maintaining a well-organized and secure physical and digital filing system. Requirements for Success To excel in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications: Proven experience as a Data Entry Clerk, with a demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Fast typing skills, with a strong preference for knowledge of the touch typing system, enabling you to meet productivity standards. Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets, including MS Office Word and Excel, to create, edit, and manage digital documents and data. Working knowledge of office equipment, computer hardware, and peripheral devices, ensuring you can troubleshoot basic technical issues and maintain equipment. Basic understanding of databases, including data structures, data types, and data relationships, to effectively manage and query data. Good command of English, both oral and written, and customer service skills, to interact professionally with customers and colleagues. Great attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and precision in data entry and management. High school degree or equivalent, providing a foundation in basic skills and knowledge. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Advanced knowledge of database management systems and data analysis tools. Experience with data visualization and reporting, to present complex data insights effectively. Familiarity with data quality control processes and data governance principles.
