We're seeking an experienced and passionate School Year Tutor to join our team at Waterford Elementary School in Waterford, NJ. As a School Year Tutor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic trajectory of our students in grades 3-6. About the Role As a School Year Tutor with New Jersey Tutoring Corps Inc., you will be working closely with small groups of students (typically 1-5) to enhance their math and literacy skills. This is a remote tutoring position with a structured schedule, offering a competitive hourly rate of $30-$40, depending on your qualifications. Our tutors are the backbone of our operation, and we're looking for someone who is not only qualified but also passionate about making a difference. Key Responsibilities Engage with students in grades 3-6 to build upon their existing math and literacy skills. Maintain daily records of student progress and site needs using the tools provided. Utilize data to inform instruction and tailor your teaching methods to meet the needs of your students. Communicate regularly with your site coordinator to ensure optimal learning experiences for students. Participate in coaching sessions with an instructional coach to refine your teaching practices. Adopt an asset-based approach in your work with students, focusing on their strengths and potential. Collaborate with other tutors and site staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Complete all required training and adhere to the program's guidelines and expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by your site coordinator or the New Jersey Tutoring Corps Inc. team. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: Experience working with young children, preferably in a teaching or learning capacity. A standard certificate, certificate of eligibility (CE), or certificate of eligibility with advanced standing (CEAS) to qualify for the $40 hourly rate. Non-certified candidates are also welcome to apply at the $30 hourly rate. A New Jersey Certification of Criminal History (fingerprint form). Proficiency in Google Suite, including Google Sheets and Forms. Professional skills such as attention to detail, timely and proactive communication, and job preparedness. Reliable transportation to travel to sites, although this is a remote position. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications can enhance your application: Previous experience in tutoring or teaching, especially in math and literacy. A background in education or a related field. Experience working with diverse student populations and adapting to different learning needs. Familiarity with data-driven instruction and formative assessment practices.
