Experienced Sylvan Learning Tutor / Teacher for Personalized Academic Support - Remote, Part-Time Opportunity

We're now seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Sylvan Learning Tutor / Teacher to join our team on a part-time basis, working remotely from our Maple Grove, MN location. About the Role: Creating a Personalized Learning Experience As a Sylvan Learning Tutor / Teacher, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality academic support to students in reading, writing, math, homework help, study skills, and college prep (ACT/SAT). You'll work closely with our Center Director to create a balanced and robust learning experience, using our proprietary program materials to tailor instruction to each student's unique needs and goals. Key Responsibilities: Inspiring Students to Learn Welcome and Engage Students: Greet students in a welcoming and friendly manner, initiating instructions to personally engage each student and promote a positive learning environment. Deliver Personalized Instruction: Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs, managing students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional, educational session. Evaluate Student Progress: Assess and record the progress of each student on their program assignment, working with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student. Manage Instructional Sessions: Oversee the conclusion of each instructional session, completion of learning logs, and transition activities to ensure a seamless learning experience. Support Student Safety and Well-being: Adhere to procedures that ensure student safety and well-being, maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment. Participate in Ongoing Training and Staff Meetings: Attend periodic staff meetings and complete ongoing training as needed to stay up-to-date on best practices and program developments. Essential and Preferred Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn. We're looking for candidates with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible, as well as strong problem-solving and customer service skills. Specific Category Qualifications: Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers: Four-year degree or equivalent preferred; state or provincial teaching credentials preferred (current or expired); minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (preferred); knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension (preferred for reading teachers). Math Program Teachers: Four-year degree required or equivalent to experience in college-level math; state or provincial teaching credentials preferred (current or expired); minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (preferred). What We Offer: A Supportive and Rewarding Work Environment As a Sylvan Learning Tutor / Teacher, you'll enjoy a part-time schedule with flexible hours, working Monday - Thursday from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. You'll report to our Center Director and have access to fully prepared lesson plans and materials, as well as paid training to support your ongoing development.
