About the Role As a Social Studies Teacher at Beaumont Independent School District, you'll play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles. Key Responsibilities Instructional Strategies: Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and cater to different learning styles. Use a range of instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials to engage students. Assess student learning styles and adjust instruction accordingly. Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students. Student Growth and Development: Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Classroom Management and Organization: Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for students' physical, social, and emotional development. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Communication: Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development: Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject/level assigned. Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned. Fluency in a foreign language for LOTE teachers. Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate for Physical Education Teachers. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: At least one year of student teaching or approved internship. Knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
