Job Summary As a Sylvan Teacher, you'll play a vital role in creating a positive and engaging learning experience for our students. You'll work closely with our center staff to develop and implement personalized lesson plans, assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback to help students grow and improve. Key Responsibilities Prepare for Instructional Sessions: Gather and prepare materials, review student progress, and plan engaging lessons to meet the needs of each student. Instruct Students: Use Sylvan program materials to deliver high-quality instruction, manage classroom time, and ensure students are engaged and motivated. Assess Student Progress: Evaluate student performance, record progress, and communicate with center staff to ensure learning is personalized and effective. Motivate and Encourage: Use praise, encouragement, and Sylvan tokens to motivate students and celebrate their achievements. Communicate with Center Staff: Share student progress, discuss challenges, and collaborate with center staff to ensure seamless delivery of our programs. Maintain a Safe and Supportive Learning Environment: Ensure student safety and well-being, and adhere to center policies and procedures. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Qualifications Four-Year Degree or Equivalent: Required for Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers; preferred for Math, SAT/ACT, Test Prep, and Advanced Reading Skills Teachers. Teaching Experience: Minimum of one to two years of teaching experience preferred, although not required. State or Provincial Teaching Credentials: Preferred, although not required (current or expired). Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Phonics and Reading Comprehension: Preferred for reading teachers. Discipline Requiring 3+ Years of College-Level Math: Required for Math Program Teachers. Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Sylvan Teacher, you'll need: Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and center staff. Patience and Empathy: Ability to work with students of varying abilities and learning styles. Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and student needs.
