Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive speech and language screenings and evaluations, adhering to established rules, regulations, laws, and ethical standards. Administer formal and informal assessments, observing students in educational environments, selecting appropriate assessments, and administering tests according to acceptable procedures. Analyze and interpret assessment data to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services, integrating information from various sources. Prepare, write, and submit evaluation reports that meet state requirements, conveying information clearly to parents and school teams. Determine the effects of students' impairments on accessing the general curriculum and collect data for IEP planning, decision-making, and progress monitoring. Maintain accurate and confidential student records, scheduling direct services using various delivery models to meet student needs. Plan and implement systematic, evidence-based intervention strategies for individual students and groups, modifying approaches as needed. Collaborate with school personnel, including teachers, administrators, and related service providers, to best meet student needs. Provide information to school personnel about language disorders, speech disorders, and their impact on communication and learning. Develop and implement IEPs and/or 504 Plans, demonstrating awareness of professional performance in due process matters and litigious environments. Chair team meetings, participate in multi-disciplinary educational teams, and complete required documentation in a timely manner. Plan, coordinate, and conduct educational trainings for staff, parents, and students, staying current with professional developments in the field. Essential and Preferred Qualifications To be considered for this role, you will possess: A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university (preferred). Massachusetts Certification and/or License (preferred). ASHA Certification (preferred). Experience teaching and/or working in an urban school system with special needs students. Knowledge and/or experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, including moderate to high technology. Knowledge and/or experience with Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will demonstrate: Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to analyze data and develop effective treatment plans. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with students, educators, and families. Cultural competence and sensitivity, with the ability to work with diverse student populations. Knowledge of current research and best practices in speech-language pathology. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
