About the Substitute Teacher Role We're seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our community in Towaco, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in various educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high schools. Develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring alignment with the school's curriculum and teaching standards. Manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation. Communicate effectively with school staff, including teachers, administrators, and other support personnel. Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, teaching strategies, and areas for growth. Engage in ongoing professional development, including free online training sessions on topics such as trauma-informed teaching and classroom management. Essential Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits. Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor. NJ Substitute Credential. Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this). Full COVID-19 vaccination. A passion for education and putting students first. An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role. Special education experience or training. Subject-specific expertise in areas such as Math, Science, English, or Special Education. Skills and Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to new teaching environments and situations. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Flexibility and willingness to work varied schedules. Proficiency in technology, including educational software and platforms.
