Our Information and Investigation group, a part of Disney Diversion and ESPN Innovation (DE&ET), is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Lead Information Specialist to drive innovation in Big Data solutions. Job Summary As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building our Information Products and Data Warehouses, focusing on Engagement and Retention Analysis and Data Science. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable data warehousing solutions, engineer data solutions, and define data models that drive business growth. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the design and development of our Information Products and Data Warehouses, focusing on Engagement and Retention Analysis and Data Science. Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in Large Information conditions (cloud, on-prem, hybrid) using technologies like Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Flink, and Wind stream. Help engineer data solutions/structures and define data models for the critical data warehouse and data marts. Collaborate with Information Product Managers, Information Modelers, and Information Architects to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions. Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance. Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support commitment to our clients (Data Science, Data Analysis teams). Be an active member and advocate of agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for your team. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering. Strong SQL skills and the ability to create queries to extract data and build performant datasets. Hands-on experience with distributed systems like Flink, Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Voila, PySpark) to query and process data. Strong programming skills in Python, Java/Scala. Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query). Strong experience in data integration toolsets (i.e., Wind current) and writing and maintaining Data Pipelines. Solid understanding of Data Modeling techniques and Data Warehousing standard practices. Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies. Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and outstanding analytical and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications To take your application to the next level, you will ideally have: Experience with Cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2). A proven track record of delivering high-quality data solutions in a fast-paced environment. Experience working in an agile/scrum environment and a passion for continuous improvement.
