[Remote] Customer Service Representative

The role involves providing exceptional customer service to patients by managing appointment scheduling and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities Answer a high volume of calls from patients or their representatives, providing courteous and professional assistance Perform scheduling, re-scheduling, and cancellation of patient appointments accurately and efficiently Ask appropriate questions and actively listen to identify specific issues or concerns, documenting all relevant information in computer systems Coordinate with healthcare providers, including contacting doctors' offices to facilitate appointment scheduling or connect patients with internal specialists Ensure strict adherence to all compliance and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and data security Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare policies and procedures to provide accurate information and support Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet performance targets and improve service quality Skills High School Diploma or GED Must be 18 years of age or older Minimum of 1 year of experience in a call center or office setting, analyzing and resolving customer issues Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to learn complex systems Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work various 8-hour shifts during business hours Availability to work occasional overtime as needed Experience with medical terminology Ability to translate healthcare-related jargon into simple, understandable instructions for customers Benefits Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance Participation in incentive and recognition programs Opportunity for stock purchase and 401(k) contributions Flexible telecommuting environment supporting work-life balance Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Company Overview UnitedHealth Group is a medical insurance company that offers health technology, patient checkups, and pharmacy services.
