As a Release of Information Specialist, you will play a critical role in our organization by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medical record release requests. This involves utilizing our Verisma software applications to input data, organize records, and resolve any HIPAA-related issues that may arise. Your work will be integral to maintaining compliance and confidentiality in the release of Protected Health Information (PHI). Key Responsibilities Process medical ROI requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Utilize Verisma software applications to manage the release of information process, staying up-to-date with the latest software features and best practices. Support the resolution of HIPAA-related release issues, demonstrating a strong understanding of relevant regulations and guidelines. Organize and maintain records and documents to facilitate the ROI process, ensuring that all information is handled confidentially and in accordance with company policies. Read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations to verify the accuracy of release requests. Provide exceptional customer service via phone, email, or in-person interactions, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner. Collaborate with colleagues and customers to ensure a smooth and efficient release of information process, promoting a positive and productive work environment. Stay informed about relevant reference materials and company updates to maintain compliance and confidentiality in the release of PHI. Participate in training sessions as required, continually developing your skills and knowledge to excel in your role. Essential and Preferred Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: A High School Diploma or equivalent. At least 2 years of experience in medical records or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience in clerical or office work, with a strong understanding of general office equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and a strong work ethic. A detail-oriented approach to work, with a focus on accuracy and quality. Preferred qualifications include: Experience working in a healthcare setting, with a familiarity of medical terminology and healthcare operations. Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to the release of Protected Health Information, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
