Job Summary: The Part-time School Counselor Coach will manage and expand New Mexico’s School Counselors’ Community of Best Practice Resource Center by curating timely resources, delivering professional development, and fostering collaboration among school counselors. This role focuses on integrating labor market information into counseling practices, coordinating statewide meetings and conferences, and ensuring effective communication and support for counselors across the state. This person must live in the Southwest U.S. and be able to travel within the state of New Mexico. Hours can vary from 10-25 hours a week. Duties/Responsibilities: Resource Center Management & Content Development • Identify, curate, and publish new material to the School Counselors’ Community of Best Practice website on a monthly basis, ensuring content remains current, accurate, and relevant. • Collaborate with our client to expand and refine resources related to school counseling best practices, with a focus on Labor Market Information (LMI). • Maintain and update our client’s Career Pathways site annually, including providing professional development to ensure counselor awareness and effective implementation. • Expand the online Resource Center with scholarly articles, academic resources, videos, and best practice tools related to school counseling and LMI. • Manage a News Feed featuring national and state-level updates related to counseling practices and career readiness. • Create and facilitate an online collaboration space for counselors, offering weekly discussion topics and interactive activities to encourage engagement. • Develop a Technology Support page providing access to counseling-related technology tools and resources. • Maintain an Online Learning Portal with over 30 modules for counselors, incorporating coursework, digital badging, and professional growth resources. Meetings & Annual Conference Coordination • Plan, develop, and implement structured meetings in partnership with our client, including an annual conference and monthly counselor meetings. Some may be virtual, and some may be in-person. • Manage and facilitate a hybrid, in-person/virtual statewide counseling meeting (Feb–March 2026), accommodating 125+ attendees, securing content consultants, handling registration, surveys, and reimbursements. • Conduct monthly one-hour counselor meetings (August–April, excluding December) to foster knowledge sharing and professional growth. Some may be virtual, and some may be in-person. Professional Development & Learning Communities • Design and deliver professional development offerings focused on the application of LMI in educational counseling practices. • Provide a minimum of eight hours of training annually through synchronous and asynchronous online courses. • Introduce and reinforce LMI concepts via monthly presentations, weekly activities, and dedicated training sessions. • Lead professional learning communities (PLCs) in both fall and spring, offering 2–3 one-hour sessions on targeted counseling best practices. Communication & Ongoing Support • Deliver a monthly newsletter highlighting timely resources, best practices, and LMI applications, distributed on or before the first Friday of each month (August–May). • Provide a weekly communication email with announcements, resources, calendars, and collaborative opportunities. • Administer bi-monthly surveys to assess counselor needs and community effectiveness, and adjust services accordingly in collaboration with our client. • Other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Learning Management Systems (LMS): Experience with Canvas or similar platforms to host online modules and digital badging preferred. • Content Creation & Design Tools: Proficiency with Canva (or Adobe Creative Suite) for newsletters, graphics, and resource materials preferred. • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drive): Strong skills for documentation, reporting, presentations, and communication required. • Proven experience in school counseling, educational leadership, or related fields, with a deep understanding of best practices in counseling. • Strong knowledge and practical experience with Labor Market Information (LMI) and its application in educational and career counseling. • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage digital resources, including websites, resource libraries, online modules, and collaboration platforms. • Experience in professional development design and delivery (online and in-person), with the ability to engage large and diverse groups of counselors. • Strong organizational skills with experience planning and executing conferences, structured meetings, and learning communities. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create newsletters, manage news feeds, and maintain consistent counselor engagement. • Familiarity with technology tools for education and counseling, including online learning management systems and collaboration platforms. • Ability to work collaboratively with state agencies, education leaders, and school counseling professionals. Education and Experience: • Master’s degree in school counseling. • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field. • At least three years of school counseling experience required or equivalent school counseling coaching. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Prolonged periods of standing. • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. • Must be able to travel to different locations within New Mexico in-person. • Must be able to spend long periods of time in a car or airplane.
