As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer in our Open Connect Reliability Engineering (SRE) Platform team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our Content Delivery Network (CDN) Platform and infrastructure, which is deployed in over 100 countries. You'll be part of a dynamic team that collaborates with Netflix Engineering groups and external ISP partners to drive innovation and improvement in our Open Connect offerings. About the Role The Open Connect SRE Platform team is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the infrastructure that enables Netflix's global content delivery. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll lead, empower, and mentor a team of engineers to drive success in this critical area. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Network Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Development, to establish strong partnerships and drive decision-making. Key Responsibilities Apply your strong understanding of SRE principles and practices to drive the design, implementation, and operation of our CDN Platform and infrastructure. Lead, empower, and mentor a team of engineers by providing clear context and continuous feedback, and driving their growth and development. Guide a team with a mix of systems and software engineering skills to execute tasks focused on scalability, reliability, and availability. Collaborate closely with the broader Open Connect organization to form strong cross-functional partnerships and drive direction and decision-making. Establish a track record of resolving issues in live production environments and implementing strategies to mitigate them. Deliver timely execution on complex tasks with high quality, and drive continuous improvement in our processes and systems. Qualifications and Requirements To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong background in SRE principles and practices, as well as experience leading high-performing teams. Here are the essential qualifications and requirements: Essential Qualifications Proven experience building and leading high-performance SRE teams. Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems basics. Robust knowledge of networking technologies, including routing, BGP, and protocols. Proficiency in a programming language, such as Python or Go. Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems at scale. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive direction and decision-making. Experience working with geographically distributed teams. Preferred Qualifications A proactive approach to giving and receiving feedback, with a growth mindset and a willingness to initiate tough conversations. The ability to disambiguate complex issues in a fast-paced environment, and drive clear action plans for your team. Experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders, including engineers, partner engagement managers, operations, and business stakeholders.
