The California Department of Social Services is dedicated to serving and supporting Californians in need. They are seeking an Analyst II who will be responsible for hearing process analysis, coordinating hearings, and managing case efficiency while providing support to various stakeholders. Responsibilities Independently responsible for providing hearing process analysis, unit planning, review of hearing requests, assessing timeliness, program involvement, complexity, and required resource analysis by supporting the Staff Services Manager, Supervising Administrative Law Judges, Assistant Deputy Directors, and internal and external stakeholders Use applications available to the State Hearings Division, review cases for readiness, identify missing documents, unresolved action items, or any information that needs to be communicated to the claimant Contact claimants ahead of the hearing to confirm their attendance, explain the hearing process, address any action requests, and assist with exhibit preparation Coordinate with programs and counties to schedule and manage hearings and create weekly calendars Monitor weekly caseload and resolution reports to assess scheduling capacity and judge-to-case ratios Utilize information from the Appeal Case Management System (ACMS), creating spreadsheets, pivot tables and other reports to help monitor and evaluate hearing results Keep track of statistical data to predict resource requirements and increase case efficiency Present results and recommendations weekly and bi-weekly to the presiding judges and Staff Services Manager I Report monthly hearing data to optimize scheduling and resource allocation Make recommendations on a broad spectrum of administrative and program-related problems Skills The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired A Statement of Qualifications or Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted along with your application to be considered for this position Candidates are required to complete the Questionnaire (see questions below) in addition to completing an Examination/Employment Application (STD 678) You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678) If you are meeting minimum qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts for verification If selected, you may be required to provide official transcripts at the time of hire Subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation Completed applications and all required documents must be received or postmarked by the Final Filing Date in order to be considered Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available) Applications will be screened and only the most qualified applicants will be selected to move forward in the selection process Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s) Applicants requiring reasonable accommodations for the hiring interview process must request the necessary accommodations if scheduled for a hiring interview Company Overview California Department of Social Services funds several programs that assist underprivileged and vulnerable children and adults.
