About the Role We are seeking an experienced Customer Development Manager to lead our sales efforts with Target, focusing on brands like Vital Proteins and Orgain. This remote-based opportunity, with a preference for candidates in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area, requires a seasoned professional with direct selling experience to Target. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large B2C customers, sales experience in the grocery, drug, and/or mass retail channels, and proficiency in MS Office. The role involves developing strategic relationships, executing sales plans, and managing daily business operations in partnership with customers. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain strategic, winning relationships throughout Target, with a focus on divisional wins such as displays, distribution gains, and ACV enhancement. Establish strong working relationships with internal teams, including Customer Strategy, Finance, and Customer Service, to ensure aligned goals and effective execution. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the customer's go-to-market model, including Category Management strategy, to deliver target budget plans and new product distribution goals. Execute brand and category growth strategies that align with customer objectives, identifying new opportunities for growth and developing strategic sales plans. Maintain a clear understanding of customer objectives and collaborate with the RVP to develop operational plans, manage execution, and measure results. Foster and grow existing and new relationships within the account, educating business partners on products, retail goals, and success metrics. Deliver customer presentations that showcase innovation, shelf positioning, promotions, and pricing strategies. Manage daily business operations, including UPC product setup, logistics, inventory management, and sell-in new products and promotions to qualified retailers. Work with customers to implement retail initiatives, monitor retail standards, and manage contracts with a focus on strategic alignment and market position strengthening. Utilize Trade Investment Management (TIM and Osprey) systems for trade fund management, direct sales forecasting, and projection activities, ensuring strong trade management and budget processing for a strong ROI. Provide monthly reporting, sales analytics, and insights, understanding the go-to-market strategy to maximize sales efficiency and manage P&L within the account coverage. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred. 5+ years of relevant work experience in a sales role, with at least 2+ years of experience managing large B2C customers, preferably with Target. Sales experience in the grocery, drug, and/or mass retail channels is required. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and prior experience using syndicated data for customer needs analysis and pricing/promotional strategy development. Account management experience, with the ability to develop and deliver sales plans in a fast-paced environment, and knowledge of project management principles. Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong, cross-functional stakeholder relationships. Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications P&L management experience and strong financial acumen. Ability to analyze, develop, and manage revenue and expense budgets, achieving revenue and profitability objectives on a sustainable basis. Dynamic leadership skills, with the ability to push past obstacles and overcome objections, utilizing creativity to set recommendations and goals. Willingness to travel up to 20% based on business needs. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits The approximate pay range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000, with performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package.
