Key Responsibilities Teach English and Read 180 to students in grades 7/8, fostering a love for learning and promoting academic excellence. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs, ensuring that all students make progress. Utilize Read 180, a comprehensive reading intervention program, to support students who are below grade level in reading. Assess student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction accordingly. Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, share best practices, and drive student success. Participate in leadership development opportunities, such as curriculum facilitator and teacher facilitator roles, to grow professionally and contribute to the district's growth. Engage with the local community, fostering strong relationships with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to support student well-being. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must: Possess a valid Connecticut State Certification in English Language Arts (015 ELA 7-12) or be willing to obtain one. Hold a relevant degree and have a minimum number of years of teaching experience, as per the district's salary schedule. Demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment to student-centered learning. Show evidence of successful teaching practices, with a track record of improving student outcomes. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications will be considered advantageous: Experience teaching English and Read 180 to students in grades 7/8. Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, with the ability to develop engaging lesson plans. Strong assessment and data analysis skills, with the ability to inform instruction. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and engage with the local community. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of $48,708 - $101,297 per year, contingent on degree and years of experience.
