About the Role We are seeking an experienced and qualified Long-Term Substitute Teacher - English to provide instruction to our students in grades 9-12. As a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, you will play a critical role in facilitating learning, academic achievement, and personal development for our students. You will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum and lesson plans, utilizing technology to facilitate learning, and demonstrating an understanding of the varying learning styles and needs of a diverse student population. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement curriculum and lesson plans that meet the needs of a diverse student population Provide instruction in the core and age-appropriate curriculum, assessing initial knowledge or skills and making appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies Evaluate student performance through examinations, homework assignments, and other methods, promoting student achievement and maintaining required student records Maintain contact and communications with parents of students, and work with them in the development of each student Participate in staff development and professional growth activities, as required and as requested Perform classroom management duties, enforcing school rules governing the conduct of students and ensuring the safety of students Provide instruction in a variety of settings, including whole class, small group, and one-on-one instruction Collaborate with other teachers, staff resources, and volunteers regarding instructional and program activities Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a 9-12 English Endorsement registered in Lake County Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas for which the teacher is responsible for instructing Excellent listening skills and skill in classroom management and organization Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching English in a high school setting Knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, and currently researched best practices and strategies Ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology, as appropriate Ability to work in a cooperative learning environment and to provide appropriate instruction in core subjects Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Round Lake Area Schools, we are committed to the growth and development of our staff.
