As a Professional Teaching Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, developing curricula, assessing student learning, and participating in departmental committees. Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in computer science and engineering, including introductory and intermediate programming (Python, Java) Develop and assess curricula to ensure alignment with departmental and university goals Participate in departmental committees and contribute to the governance of the department Engage in professional growth and scholarship to stay current with industry developments and advancements Advise students and provide guidance on academic and career paths Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this role, you must possess a strong background in computer science and engineering, as well as a passion for teaching and mentoring. The ideal candidate will have: A terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or a related field for Associate Teaching Professor rank A master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or a related field for Assistant Teaching Professor rank Demonstrated ability as a teacher and adviser, with a strong track record of student engagement and success Evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff Preferred Qualifications Experience with curricular development and assessment Knowledge of programming languages, including Python and Java Familiarity with computer systems design and theory Experience with online or hybrid teaching environments Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Professional Teaching Faculty member at Penn State University, you will have opportunities for career growth and professional development.
