About the Role: Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinic Oncology We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to fill a remote, full-time position as a Phone Triage Registered Nurse for the Oncology Clinic at Inova Alexandria Schar Cancer Institute - Mark Center. As a valued member of our team, you will provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination to patients with a variety of cancers and hematologic conditions. Your expertise and compassion will be essential in delivering safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way, incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family-centered manner. Key Responsibilities: Provide phone triage and assessment to patients, determining the level of care needed and coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure timely and effective treatment Collaborate with medical oncologists, advanced practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients Conduct patient and family education, addressing concerns and providing emotional support throughout the continuum of care Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others, respecting and understanding the roles and responsibilities of other clinical disciplines Determine processes for delivery of care, utilizing direct patient/family communication, technology, and collaboration with other healthcare team members Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, care plans, and treatment outcomes Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience, with a strong preference for RN Oncology experience A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (AD), with the requirement to complete a BSN within 5 years of start date if hired with an AD Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association A current RN license or eligibility to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN Preferred Qualifications: Experience in phone triage and care coordination Knowledge of oncology and hematology principles, treatments, and protocols Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams Proficiency in electronic medical records and other healthcare technology systems Skills and Competencies The ideal candidate will possess: Strong clinical skills and knowledge in oncology and hematology Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities Compassion, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to care Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Inova Health System, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our employees.
